Zen Den provides low-cost acupuncture to the community through a cooperative, grassroots, and financially self-sustaining model. Our goal is to offer acupuncture to everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances. Zen Den provides a healing environment where members of our community can connect, heal or be directed to resources they need. We welcome people of all genders, sexes, races, colors, incomes, national origins, ages, abilities or disabilities, marital statuses (legal or otherwise), familial situations, religions, sizes and shapes, sexual orientations, and political beliefs. Your level of care will never be based on any of these factors.

Michelle Hamilton is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist, and Certified Massage Therapist. Born and raised in San Luis Obispo, she has over 20 years of experience in the Health and Wellness Industry.
Completing her undergraduate studies at Cal Poly University, Michelle went on to complete her 4-year Master’s Degree from the nationally ranked Emperors College of Oriental Medicine located in Santa Monica, CA. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Oriental Medicine and will finish in 2019.
Over the course of her acupuncture training Michelle had the opportunity to intern at the UCLA Orthopedic Medical Clinic and graduated with academic honors. She has completed extensive post-graduate training in acupuncture for athletes, orthopedic acupuncture, women’s health, fertility, pregnancy, pediatrics and chronic pain conditions. She has guest lectured at Cal Poly and volunteers her services at the Special Olympic Games. In 2018 she partnered her Community Acupuncture Clinic with the SLO NOOR clinic, which provides free acupuncture and healthcare for the uninsured in SLO County. She is member of the Central Coast Acupuncture Alliance and the American Acupuncture Council.
In private practice for over 8 years, the more positive experiences Michelle witnessed in her patients health due to acupuncture treatments, the more inspired she felt to share her gifts with the community. She describes Zen Den as a “healing space for anyone who wants acupuncture to receive it, as often as they would like, regardless of any exterior circumstances.” Zen Den is Michelle’s gift to this SLO Community that she loves so much.
A mother of two children and the creator of the Well Woman Project, in her spare time she enjoys practicing yoga, competetive trail running, coaching her kids basketball teams and traveling. Her private Acupuncture Practice is located at the SLO Wellness Center.
